Where is the converting industry heading?

Three questions to David Trinkner, Business Development Manager for the converting industry, about Robatech's trade fair appearance at the CCE International in Munich 2025 in the context of trends in this industry.

David Trinkner, what was the atmosphere like at the CCE?

David Trinkner: The atmosphere was rather calm, but good. We had valuable discussions with customers who are interested in our solutions. Unfortunately, many of our competitors no longer take the opportunity to exhibit because the CCE is getting smaller every time and attracting fewer and fewer visitors. That is a pity. We were still present because we have a lot to offer in the converting market. Be it for the production of paper carrier bags with cold glue, the application of silicone release liners on e-commerce shipping packaging, or any type of spray or dot application: we have the respective solutions. Trade fairs are an ideal platform for presenting these to an interested specialist audience. Robatech is characterized by its proximity to its customers – and we want to keep it that way in the future!

What trends do you see in the converting industry?

David Trinkner: The topic of PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) is of course very present in the converting industry. Many companies are making efforts to save resources, which was also evident at the CCE booths and discussed in the presentations. You can sense that the willingness to make packaging recyclable is there, but that the industry is facing major challenges in this regard. Not everything can be converted to fiber-based materials without further ado. The requirements for packaging are sometimes complex and very varied, depending on the product to be protected.

How can Robatech support this trend?

David Trinkner: Robatech offers adhesive application solutions for all packaging materials. The application of functional coatings on fiber-based materials will certainly be a key topic in the future. We are ideally prepared for this with our coating heads.

We also have fast and reliable adhesive application solutions for e-commerce that contribute to the responsible use of packaging and resources, whether for sealing shipping packaging or applying silicone release liners and tear strips.

With the PerfectFold liquid creaser, Robatech can also offer a solution for folding corrugated cardboard boxes that works very well. The patented process simplifies and speeds up the folding process by using a special liquid to take over the mechanical creasing function. The result is convincing more and more folding carton manufacturers who are struggling with problems such as inaccurately folded edges and cracking of the board. The system massively reduces waste, which on the one hand makes a significant contribution to a company's sustainability and on the other hand also ensures a quick return on investment.

Thank you David Trinkner for these interesting insights.
